It's Wednesday and people are gearing up for the weekend. It is beautiful outside today. The sun is out. Hardly a cloud in the sky. It would seem to be the perfect December day in Florida to spend time at the beach or park of your choice. Maybe do some window shopping on 5th or 3rd. Today is simply a great day to be outside in nature. Of course, that is if you aren't like most everybody else and have the day off on this gorgeous day. I can imagine most of you reading this are probably inside some building where business is being conducted, haunted by commerce and societal burdens. Right this second you already know how great it is outside and would much rather find out what is happening around town after five o'clock. Well, I will be more than obliged to let you in on a few things I highly recommend doing to ease to stress and woes of the everyday strain!
You could catch Matt Walden down at the Beach Box tonight from 6-9pm. If you have not heard Matt Walden's music then you're missing out on a great performance. He is classified as acoustic pop and really puts that classification to the test. He has been known to utilize beat boxing while behind the guitar. His recorded music is one thing but to see him live is another. He takes the soft acoustic sound and slaps a catchy beat behind it. He mixes vocal melodies with a hint of rap to deliver his heart breaking messages about lost love. The lyrics are catchy and deserve to be hummed while you walk away to find the next venture.
If you're looking for more of an interactive environment then you should head on down to The Twisted Spoke where they'll have open mic for musicians and karaoke for those who just want to have fun. The night is hosted by none other than Glo Head of Grand Theft Deity. The environment is friendly and inviting. The patrons are more than willing to give appreciation and applause to all who are brave enough to get behind the mic. The genre of music offered up by those who attend what has been deemed Wild Out Wednesdays ranges from folk and easy listening to punk and hard rock. Be prepared to experience a wide range of amazing musicianship from 7pm-2am.
If you're looking for something grand to put in your belly with some amazingly talented musicians playing in the background you can head to South Street for Stringfellow. Now if you are not familiar with Stringfellow then the following needs to be brought to your attention. Stringfellow consists of member of another well known act called The Wholetones. They are incredibly talented musicians who have seemed to have perfected a folk/jazz fusion. If you miss them tonight don't you worry they'll be playing a few other places in the Naples area through the weekend. This will be going from 8pm-12am.
There is so much more going on in the way of late night entertainment. I just named a few that I highly recommend if you're in search of a different kind of experience. The three above mentioned are highly motivated and creative acts giving it their all for everyone who walks through the doors of the respective establishments in which they're performing. You could very well catch all three if you time it just right since all three venues are fairly close in vicinity to each other. Remember, even if you go out because you want to have a good time you're also showing these artists support in the process. Get out there and show some love for the creative arts!
