So It Begins

If your are reading this then welcome to a new source of what is happening right under your nose in our local community. Naples, FL is considered by most to be a tight knit group of artistic and culturally diverse people and they are. We aren't here to tell you other wise. There are, however, aspects of the creative community that seems to be overlooked or under appreciated at times. Next time you pick up a local paper flip through it. What do you find? What are you looking for? What isn't in there that should or could be in there?



Visual artists are mentioned for their interpretation of their surroundings, their use of color or shapes in seemingly unique abstract pieces or even what images or messages they can represent on statues of turtles and gators. Why aren't artists who pour their heart and soul into their pieces and aren't associated with local art groups or backed by money not seen?

You can walk into almost any restaurant on a weekend and find a new music group playing their hearts out to anyone who will listen. Be it blues, bluegrass, folk, classic rock, jazz or what have you. All these musicians usually play for three to four hours a night. They sneak some of their original music in with covers they learned to please the crowds. Yet you hardly ever hear what they are doing outside the usual monthly gig. The musicians barely ever get mentioned let alone credit in local publications or other medias.

We could continue to talk about all creative aspects including food, events, murals and even tradesmen. All aspects of life has a creative side that tends to go unnoticed by the community because it is either not "mainstream" enough or the messages being sent out aren't conservative enough or even the fact that it was a middle to lower class artist, tradesmen, or musician that created it there for isn't worth the time or ink of other media outlets.

Guess what? We appreciate all of it and feel that it all should be shared with the world even more so with you. You want to know where to find a punk band? We'll tell you. You want to see performance art? We'll tell you where to find it. You want to know who all unknown artist is? We'll tell you. We aim to give you all aspects of all creativity within our community and then some. We will keep you in the loop if you're the one who really listened to that band the other night at your favorite eatery. We will show you artists whose creativity seem to be shoved to the side for one reason or another. We'll let you in on where to find that imaginative chief. We will tell you what is here and usually overlooked while giving our opinions mixed with facts to bring you a new perspective on our creative community.
